10.10 – 10.55 am: 
Keynote Yvonne Eijkenduijn – from the inspiring Yvestown Blog -The ME Room

In her keynote speech, Yvonne Eijkenduijn will take you on a tour on how to turn a homemade blog into a successful, semi-professional, lifestyle blog. Yvonne will reveal how to deal with a personal blog without being too personal, how to give readers a look into your life but keeping your privacy and how to become commercial without being branded.

11.00 – 11.45 am: Workshops

You can choose one of the three workshops stated below.

Break-out session A: The 101 on producing original and inspiring posts-The ME Room 

Yvonne Eijkenduijn and Will Taylor will take you on a journey from product to blog post, showing you how to create a compelling and visually interesting blog post. After taking this workshop you will know how to:

  • create a mini at-home photo studio with a cardboard box
  • style a vignette to shoot
  • diversify in photographing shots
  • edit the shots
  • lay the shots out as blog post
  • find your personal blog style

Break-out session B: Revamp and restore your vintage furniture- Studio 1

In this hands on workshop Louisa Blackmore will demonstrate and engage you in upcycling a bedside table and breathe new life into things that otherwise would have ended up in your basement or even worse. When leaving this workshop you will know how:

  • To use chalk paints on furniture – 3 basic techniques
  • To create an authentic distressed look
  • Découpage techniques

Break-out Session C: DCLR 101: Going beyond the automatic settings-Studio 2

In this workshop Paul Craig will help you to get more confident to venture beyond the automatic settings. He will show you what all those knobs on your DCLR are for and when and how to use them to shoot the perfect blog picture. ISO, Whitebalance, exposure, and capturing the right light, it will all be part of this workshop with plenty room for asking questions as well.

Swooning over an interior design photo you found on Pinterest, but not quite sure how to put it into words? Anna Aguilar-Corney will teach you how!

Design terminology is an opaque topic for many.  Ana Aguilar-Corney, has recently completed a blog series entitled Design Terminology  which she compiled to help her readers become more familiar with and more easily recognize the style of a piece of furniture, accessory or room design. Ana’s ‘Design Terminology Uncovered’ workshop will be highly interactive giving you a chance to hone your own ideas on design terminology. You will:

  • Gain an understanding of the lexicon of design terminology
  • See how these design styles have been used
  • Get an insight on what design blog content works and doesn’t work.

Break-out session G: Preview of Spring Summer trends and the latest paint effects-Studio 1

It’s time to get creative as we say – out with the winter greys and in with a fresh burst of life on your walls for that summer feeling! Creative Director at Dulux, Marianne Shillingford, welcomes you to an interactive session to introduce a new trend for 2013 ‘Collective Passion’, based on a palette of bright and vibrant tones. Marianne will offer an overview of this exciting new trend with its acidic neons and lashings of stand-out colour that really make a statement. We’ll also be showcasing some of the latest painting techniques for 2013 that will ensure your walls are totally on trend for the year. Following a ‘how to’ demonstration of the stylish dip-dye ‘flocking effect’, participants will be welcomed to try the technique out for themselves in the latest Collective Passion colours and create their very own canvas art work to take home at the end of the day.

Break-out session F: Design terminology uncovered-The ME Room

Break-out session D: Telling a visual story-Studio 2

In this hands on workshop professional photographer Paul Craig will take the intermediate photographer into the process of shooting an interior and how to tell the story of that space in one shot. What aspects to consider when shooting a space, how to use little natural light to your advantage, when to zoom and pan, and which angles to use.

14.45-15.30: Dulux Colour experience-The ME Room 

Get a head start on the latest homes and interiors trends set to make a mark in 2013. Colour trends expert, Louise Smith from Dulux, will be showcasing the very latest in homes and interiors trends from bright neons and soft pastels to monochrome looks and 1950s inspired interiors. You’ll get an insight into the five key trends predicted for the year, hear about the influences behind them and the colours that everyone will be shouting about. Guest blogger, Jo Thornhill will also be on hand presenting a selection of ideas for how to translate the latest looks into exciting material for your own blog. How can you show the latest trends in an unusual and engaging way? What will make your blog stand out from the rest and take it to the next level?  

15.15-16.00u Colourful drinks & bites break-The ME Room

Then it’s time to mingle and have some fun! Grab a colourful snack and a drink, have a chat with one of our colour and design experts, quiz our interior designers with your burning homes and interiors questions and learn how to put together your very own mood board. You’ll even have the chance to visit the nail bar and adorn your nails with some bespoke nail art based on the latest colours from our spring/summer palette to ensure you’ll be well ahead of the trends
